Partners/Sponsors
The Network has developed through the support and collaboration of its many partners and sponsors - including forty-two Canadian universities.
Statistics Canada has partnered the Network from the outset, providing the data sets housed in the centres and contributing directly and indirectly, through the Research Data Centre Program, to the operation of the Network and to the research activity conducted in the centres.
In addition to university and local funding agency contributions to individual centres, the Network receives substantial financial support towards RDC infrastructure and running costs from major national granting councils:
-
Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI): an independent corporation created by the Government of Canada to fund research infrastructure. The CFI's mandate is to strengthen the capacity of Canadian universities, colleges, research hospitals, and non-profit research institutions to carry out world-class research and technology development that benefits Canadians
-
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC): the federal agency that promotes and supports university-based research and training in the humanities and social sciences. Through its programs and policies, the Council enables the highest levels of research excellence in Canada, and facilitates knowledge sharing and collaboration across research disciplines, universities and all sectors of society.
-
Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR): the Government of Canada's agency responsible for funding health research in Canada. CIHR's mandate is to "excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health-care system."
