On November 23, we invite you to attend the seminar by Ted McDonald, Professor and Academic Director NB-RDC at the University of New Brunswick, who will discuss “Survey and Administrative data to support population health research: opportunities, caveats, and an application to the incidence of head and neck cancer and thyroid cancer in Canada.”

This presentation will provide an overview of recent and ongoing health research using survey and administrative datasets contained in the RDCs, with particular reference to new work on the socioeconomic determinants of head and neck cancer incidence and mortality. The presentation will highlight the limitations of both survey and administrative datasets for health research and then will conclude with an introduction to a pilot project that overcomes many of these problems by using linked survey-administrative data to investigate individual and contextual factors in cancer incidence between rural and urban areas of Canada.

The seminar will take place at Hagey Hall 280, on Friday November 23, 2012 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Refreshments will be provided.
