Call for proposals: biobank of the CHMS

Statistics Canada is inviting researchers to apply for access to blood, urine and DNA samples from the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) for use in health studies. The biospecimens are available to any Canadian researcher that completes a review process and would benefit from this national population survey of about 5,600 participants per collection cycle. Proposals must be submitted by June 30 by completing the application form. Visit the CHMS biobank website for more information.

To increase the accessibility of the Incident-based Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Survey data, the Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics, in conjunction with Statistics Canada’s Research Data Centres program, is conducting a pilot project whereby the UCR database will be placed in a select number of RDCs. This pilot project will provide support for the evaluation and refinement of confidentiality vetting rules for the UCR data and an opportunity to improve end-user documentation. Proposals should be submitted by November 19, 2012. Details here.
